Sonos Multi-room Audio System

All Star Audio Video-Sonos Multi-room Audio SystemThe Sonos Multi-room Audio System is an awesome. wireless solution to stream music throughout a house, especially for those who love to listen to the sound of great music. It comes with an intuitive user interface that is easy to use because it seems to think the way we do.  This system allows you to share your own iTunes library, if it is stored on a networked computer or an NAS (Network Storage Device), or you might choose to share music directly from Pandora, Spotify or any one of the other radio stations or services currently available via the Internet.

Whether you are looking to stream music in to just a couple of rooms or throughout your entire home, this Sonos system can accommodate 2 to 32 zones or rooms.  It uses SonosNet, a wireless mesh network that provides reliable whole-house coverage.  With SonosNet, each zone (room) acts as a separate wireless hub with wide coverage and audio synchronization, ensuring no audio delay or wireless interference.

A conventional three-room system starts with a Sonos Zone Player for each room.  For example, you might put a ZP120 (amplified) Zone Player with a pair of speakers in the living room, a ZP90 Zone Player (un-amplified) connected to a tabletop music system with speakers in your home office and the new Sonos S5 Zone Player in the master bedroom.

The Sonos S5 has a robust sound quality just like a pair of good bookshelf speakers with plenty of rich bass and clear, crisp midrange and highs.  It has a hearty sound that is ideal for music or even talk radio programs, making it very easy to listen to.  This piece of equipment is a stand-alone component that fits easily on a table, shelf or countertop and it includes built-in digital amps and five speakers.

Each of the components can be purchased individually or in a pre-packaged bundle with zone players and the Sonos CR200 Controller.  If you want to add more rooms or zones to your initial system, it is easy to do; the Sonos Multi-room Audio System is expandable – just add additional zone players and speakers, as needed.

Sonos Set-up – Out of the Box Easy

Some multi-room audio systems are so complicated that highly trained specialists are needed to get the system up and running.  The Sonos system is so simple to set up and use that you can do it yourself!  All you need is a high-speed Internet connection and a router to get started. Then simply open the box, decide where you want music, follow a few simple set-up instructions and then enjoy the music.

Using the Sonos System

This entire system is easily controlled with the Sonos CR200 Controller, a simple hand-held remote with a bright, easy-to-read LCD touch display.  Even though the Sonos CR200 is one of the coolest parts of this particular sound system, it is interesting to note that Apple has a free application that can be downloaded to your iPhone or iPod Touch to control the Sonos system.  The Apple app can be used with or as an alternative to the Sonos CR200 Controller.

The Sonos CR200 Controller is intuitive, fun to use, and easy to navigate; you can learn to use it in no time at all.  The controller has three main keys:  volume (up/down), mute and the home key.  This home key is important because it takes you back to the top of the menu where connected zones are displayed. Other functions, including favorites, playlists, source selection, and settings, are displayed on the controller’s touch screen.

To use the controller, just select a room, select a source and press Play Now.  Each zone can listen to a different source or the same source. The same source feature is great when entertaining a large group; the same piece of music can be heard in the living room, family room, dining room and even the kitchen, depending on the number of zones set up.

Music to Your Ears

With the Sonos Multi-room Audio System, you will find that the variety of listening choices leaves nothing to be desired.  Not only do you have many internet radio options, you can also compile your favorite music playlists on the system and you can find them quickly and easily with the controller.  You can separately control the program and volume in each zone, and the controller even displays the iTunes album art or radio station logos for the source currently playing.

The Sonos Multi-room Audio System is designed to work flawlessly throughout your house, in several rooms or in every room.  You can start small and expand over time and Sonos has made sure that it all works together seamlessly and wirelessly.   You can play the same song in every room with perfect synchronicity or simultaneously play different songs in different rooms.  If you are looking for a wireless audio system for your home, consider the Sonos Multi-room Audio System.  If you love music, you will certainly love this Sonos audio system.
