Panasonic’s TC-L55WT60 3D LCD HDTV

Is it time to update the TV in your home theater?  Add a sophisticated touch to your home theater with the Panasonic TC-L55WT60 3D LCD HDTV.  This particular VIERA (smart) TV offers an excellent picture quality, with vibrant colors, robust blacks, smooth gradation and great high moving-picture resolution.

For its WT60 Series, Panasonic is focused on a unique, yet sleek, uncluttered design.  All unnecessary parts have been stripped away in order to show off the awe-inspiring images seen on the TV screen.  A chrome-toned quarter-inch-thin bezel surrounds the set’s screen, and the included non-swiveling stand incorporates a clear acrylic panel. It looks great mounted on a wall or free-standing.

Panasonic VIERA TV’s come with many advanced features, including a variety of different apps, video on demand, remote control using tablets and phones, and the ability to interact with music, video and photos on your computer and handheld devices. The Panasonic Smart interface for this TV is called My Home Screen.  The interface serves not only as the place to log into Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and other apps, but also as a household electronic bulletin board.  Family members have the ability to create their own home screen and add their preferred apps and functions; family members will have fun with the facial recognition option that allows the set switch automatically to a different Home Screen layout depending on which face the built-in cam sees and recognizes. There are clock and calendar panels, and the entire family can use the TV’s built-in camera to leave video messages for each other.

One exciting feature is the Swipe & Share 2.0.  This is a great feature for the “photo diva/s” in your house. It allows the user to easily “transfer” pictures, video, or websites from a tablet or a smartphone running Panasonic’s TV Remote 2 app.

Voice Interaction is also one of the Smart features of the TC-L55WT60.  Although this feature works fairly well, it is somewhat limited in what it can do.  It does have the ability to change volume to a specific level on the TV and users can do a specific term search as well. Speak a term like “Panera” and select Map Search to show a map with all the Panera locations in your area.

Viera Touch Pad controllers are included with all the Panasonic Smart TV’s.  The controller has a large central pad that you swipe across/up/down to navigate onscreen menus.  Basics such as Home Screen, volume, channel, and Voice Interaction are included on this controller.  In case the Touch Pad controller seems intimidating, Panasonic also provides an old-school remote for the electronically challenged

The Panasonic TC-L55WT60 also comes with an excellent TV Remote 2 app, which has many useful features that put it many miles ahead of the competition.  When it is loaded on an iPad, users can move quickly between regular and pad-type remote control and a virtual keyboard layout.  Of course, a gamepad controller is also included. The most remarkable feature about TV Remote 2, however, is the Smart Calibration interface. This special interface provides slider controls to fine-tune every possible picture parameter, making picture calibration so much easier than with a regular remote.

This Panasonic TV is absolutely a “high ambient lighting TV.” The picture is most impressive when it is viewed in high amounts of natural or synthetic light.In the right lighting, this TV looks crisp and sharp. When looking at color accuracy, the TC-L55WT60 is actually a very strong performer for an LCD.  All of the shades and hues displayed are appropriately saturated, preserving the viewing details.  This TV also does a good job of maintaining the fine details in moving images, so there is very little blurring in video games and sporting events.

Panasonic’s TC-L55WT60 LCD HDTV is a very solid television for any home.  It is jam-packed full of features that will be fun for the whole family to use.  More importantly, however, this bright LCD HDTV is capable of producing very accurate color, something that’s a bit uncommon when it comes to non-plasma TVs.  The My Home Screen interface represents a big step forward, both for Panasonic and for Smart TV interfaces overall.
